The Ibn Haldun University Library was represented at the ÜNAK 2026 Symposium, hosted by Bilkent University on 7-8 September 2026.

At the symposium, Zehranur Aydin, Assistant Specialist in User Services at the Ibn Haldun University Library, presented a paper entitled "Philosophy for Libraries (P4L): A New Paradigm of Thinking in Librarianship".

The paper examined the ‘Philosophy for Libraries (P4L)’ model, developed on the basis of Matthew Lipman’s ‘Philosophy for Children (P4C)’ approach. The model aims to reposition libraries not merely as institutions providing access to information, but as active learning spaces that support inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking.

The paper also highlighted the role libraries can play as public spaces that offer opportunities for information and media literacy, the ethical use of information, and exposure to diverse perspectives in the face of digital-age challenges such as algorithmic filtering, echo chambers, and disinformation. In line with the P4L approach, it was proposed that librarians should serve as ‘facilitators of thought’ in addition to their roles as information specialists and guides.
