Ibn Haldun University Library participated in one of the field's prominent professional events, the "8th National Academic Resource Sharing Workshop: Interlibrary Collaboration and New Approaches in the Age of Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence," where it shared its institutional knowledge and experience. The workshop, hosted by Bartın University on May 14–15, 2026, featured presentations by Merve Dirken and Jasemin Abdalla from the Library's User Services Unit.
The workshop is organized as part of ANKOS’s ongoing efforts to promote collaboration and resource-sharing in librarianship. Through its activities, ANKOS brings together sector stakeholders and encourages professional knowledge exchange in areas such as electronic resource management, open access, and interlibrary cooperation.
During the workshop, current and critical topics were addressed, including the impact of artificial intelligence applications on Interlibrary Loan (ILL) processes, data mining for collection management, digital lending models, copyright issues, digital ethics, and cost analysis in resource sharing. The future of resource sharing was examined from multiple perspectives within a rapidly evolving information ecosystem.
In the session moderated by Assoc. Prof. Ahmet Altay, Merve Dirken, and Jasemin Abdalla presented the paper "Removing Barriers Before Researchers: The ILL Policy and Experience of Ibn Haldun University Library," highlighting the Library’s approach and practices in interlibrary loan (ILL) services. The presentation emphasized that ILL services are a strategic tool that facilitates fast, effective access to information for researchers, while highlighting the Library’s user-oriented, data-driven, and collaboration-based service model. It also addressed the contribution of resource sharing to collection development processes, operational challenges encountered, and the social benefits achieved through the policy of free access.
Ibn Haldun University Library continues to actively participate in such national events, contributing both to the sharing of its own experience and to the professional development of the field.
