The Ibn Haldun University Library was represented at the 2nd YÖKAK International Conference on Quality Assurance and Accreditation, hosted by Yıldız Technical University on 14-15 September 2026.

During the session moderated by Prof. Dr. Hasan Okuyucu from Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Dr. Sami Çuhadar, Head of the Library and Documentation Department at Istanbul Bilgi University, and Sönmez Çelik, Head of the Library Department at Ibn Haldun University, presented a paper entitled "Accreditation in Higher Education and University Library Indicators: Redefining Criteria in the Age of Artificial Intelligence".

The study provided a comparative analysis of the criteria set by national and international accreditation bodies regarding university libraries. It was revealed that current evaluation systems focus largely on quantitative indicators such as collection size, database subscriptions, physical space, opening hours and technological infrastructure; whilst indicators relating to user satisfaction, contributions to research and learning processes, societal impact and the use of artificial intelligence remain limited.

The paper emphasised that, in the age of artificial intelligence, output and impact-focused indicators, AI literacy, research data management, bibliometric analyses, the ethical use of AI and qualified human resources must be given greater prominence in the evaluation of university libraries.

The presentation also highlighted that university libraries are not merely units that provide information, but strategic structures that support education, research, student success, and institutional quality processes, drawing attention to the need for accreditation standards to be reconsidered in line with this transformation.
